Finding Spikey: Updates...

(last updated 17-12-2024, 8:00 pm)

With the lack of physical sightings, we are becoming increasingly concerned that someone has picked him up and is hiding him. We are simply struggling to believe that he is loose and roaming, as no-one has seen him.

So, to raise Spikey’s profile and the island’s awareness to our search, we are now offering a limited time only, reward of $10,000. This offer will expire on January 1st, 2025. There will be no questions asked, and a complete amnesty on anyone coming forward with Spikey, so long as he is returned safely. That is simply all we care about.

If you are suspicious that you have seen him, then please take a photograph, so that we can confirm his identity. Please be respectful to owners of other small dogs as they are out walking.

Needless to say, the reward is ONLY for Spikey, not just any small white dog!

The Search so far...

Together with the assistance of hundreds of volunteers, we have carried out an extensive search of the local area and beyond. Boats and Kayaks have been used to sweep the canals of Grand harbour, Red Bay and Prospect. We have walked the streets, checked the grass verges and walked, waded and crawled through the mangroves throughout Red Bay. We have used thermal imaging drones to cover larges areas of deep mangrove swamp to check for Spikey and two sniffer dogs to follow Spikey’s scent. All these efforts have found no trace of Spikey’s whereabouts.

As part of our search we have been assisted by hundreds of individuals on foot and by car, exploring the whole of the island, especially focusing on the areas from Tropical Gardens to Patricks Island. Despite this we have had no genuine sightings of Spikey from his original location on Selkirk and Bimini drives.

We have been assisted with the use of thermal imaging drones, through the Cayman Drone Company.

We have been assisted by the amazing sniffer dogs "Roger", owned by James Tucker; and "Simba" owned by Alicia and Gabe Per.

We just want him home...

More than 1,500 flyers have bee handed out of displayed throughout the island and drivers will be familiar with the many sandwich boards which are displayed throughout George Town, Red Bay and Prospect, with further signs in West Bay, Bodden Town and East End.

The search for Spikey has been published in the Cayman Compass on November 29th.

Now, the search continues with an increased effort of public awareness and engagement, in an effort to increase our eyes and ears in the community and hope that we can reach anyone who knows of his whereabouts.

We thank you all again for your help and kind words along the way.

Let's get Spikey home...
